When I was in college in the late 80s, a professor of mine who knew I was working on a music degree, an English degree and playing on the tennis team started calling me "the Renaissance man." I really liked that moniker until I realized he probably meant "Jack of all trades, master of none."
But a little over 20 years later, not much has changed. After law school I was a police officer (for about six days), a criminal investigator, a prosecuting attorney and since 1999 a public defender, currently assigned to the Juvenile Unit where I represent delinquent kids and occasionally act as Guardian ad Litem for abused, neglected and/or dependent children.
All the while I've continued my love for playing live music, having been with the cover band "Sharp Circle" since 2004.
Yet my gift or curse is just that I like to watch what goes on around me and comment on it, in hopes that maybe while everyone else is waiting for a big sign, I might learn the secret of the universe by ogling the insignificant details.
